Large leathery glossy mid green leaves up to 20cm long. White flowers on upright spikes in mid spring. Cherry shaped red, then black fruits in early autumn.

Vigorous and dense evergreen bushy shrub which becomes open and spreading with age.
Growing conditions
Sun or shade. It is very shade tolerant. Moist but well drained, fertile soil. Will not thrive in shallow, chalky soils.
Height
0.4 x 0.8m at planting; 1.5 x 1m after 5 years. Ultimate size governed by pruning, but will make a tall and wide hedge up to 6 x 10m at maturity.
